INFO: The estate covers 84.5 hectares of dry-farmed vineyards among the rolling hills of the Vino Nobile region of Tuscany. The vineyards are planted with a minimum of 70% Sangiovese (known locally as Prugnolo Gentile), Canaiolo and international grape varietals.
Maceration of the skins took place for 10 to 15 days at temperatures of 25 to 30°C. The frequent pump-overs used special pumps which were designed to move the skins and seeds very gently. The wine was aged for two years in 5,500 litre oak barrels, while a small proportion was aged in French barriques. After bottling, the wine was aged in Carpineto's temperature controlled cellars for a minimum of six months prior to release.
An extraordinarily elegant, ethereal wine delivering red fruits with hints of violet and oak spice. Beautifully balanced with an elegantly textured, velvety palate and a lovely, long finish.
