INFO: Carpineto farms 500 hectares of sustainably farmed land, spread amongst five carbon neutral estates in the regions of Chianti Classico, Alto Valdarno, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Brunello di Montalcino and Maremma.
The Sangiovese grapes come from vineyards under long term lease in the upper Valdarno region where organic agriculture is practised. No synthetic chemicals or herbicides are used. Only natural organic fertilisers are added to the stony soils.
Fermentation took place in temperature controlled vats with medium length maceration. After the final blend was assembled, the wine was aged for a minimum of six months in oak casks and then was left to rest in tank before being bottled. Bottling took place during the second year following the vintage and the wine has benefitted from four to six months' bottle ageing prior to release.
Full bodied with a velvety texture and aromatic notes of violets, berries and cherries. This Chianti Classico is well rounded and beautifully balanced on the palate, with velvety tannins leading to a long, delicate finish.
