Viranel Viognier - Saint Chinian
France - Languedoc
REGION: Herault, France
Viranel is a proper Jaded Palates producer: a small, family vineyard making great-tasting, fresh, vibrant wines from indigenous grapes. Viognier isn't supposed to grow well in hotter climates. It tends to get overly ripe, lose what acidity is has and taste almost soapy. We've had some pretty bad Viognier in our time. So to have the lovely peachy, honey aromatics whilst keeping it crisp and refreshing is no mean feet. The cooler micro-climate around Viranel helps with this, as does sensitive winemaking.
