REGION: Paso Robles, California
VARIETIES: Grenache, Syrah, Counoise
If we said this was close to a top-quality Chateauneuf-du-Pape you'll get outside of the famous appellation itself, there are several very good reasons why. Firstly, the location: Paso Robles has a very similar soil-type and climate. Then, the grapes: classic Rhone-blend. Finally, the producers: Tablas Creek was set up by the famous Perrin family, who make some of the world's great Rhone wines, including Chateau de Beaucastel and Miraval (still owned by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie). This combo produces something amazing.
