INFO: Saint Véran is a fascinating Burgundian appellation. It's situated in the Maconnais, which is generally best known for its generic Bourgogne or Macon names - fruit-forward, simple but elegant. Then, nearby, are the world-famous towns of Puligny and Chassagne. And lo and behold, Saint Véran really is half-way between these two styles (although closer to the Macon price-range!) Plenty of fruit and steeliness, yet with just enough oomph from the oak. This wine is from pretty much the only southerly-facing slopes of the region too, giving some extra ripeness.
