REGION: Languedoc, France
VARIETIES: Picpoul de Pinet
Picpoul or Piquepoul is actually one of the very oldest of the traditional Languedoc varieties, having been planted there since at least the 1700s. We've only recently taken a liking to it in the UK for its light touch, quaffability and general all-round tastiness. It's a great alternative to a Pinot Grigio or similar light-bodied wine which isn't too acidic.
